Craneflies on the Horizon
We are eagerly awaiting our super hatch on the Beaverhead. They tend to first start showing up around the 20th of August and will linger around until Labor Day. There are not too many out as of last night. The real wildcard might be the water clarity on the Beaverhead. It started the day pretty clear yesterday, then clouded up in the afternoon. Ironically, the fishing was a little better once the water got a little murky. This was caused by a slight drop in the flow out of Clark Canyon Reservoir. As of now, there is a wide selection of flies at play. San Juan worms below High Bridge in the mornings. Crystal HBIs near the dam. Various scud and sowbug patterns are also catching some fish.
