Things Are Heating Up!

We were encouraged to see the FWP's shocking data from this Spring. It reinforced what we've already seen since the opener on the Upper Beaverhead.  There are a lot of really niced sized fish this year! To consistently catch those fish fly selection and your terminal tackle setup is extremely important.  Currently, we are catching fish on a variety of San Juan worms, various sowbugs, a plethora of midge patterns, and size 16-18 baetis nymphs. It is always a good idea to change your flies frequently this time of year until you dial in the right bug.

This week's hot weather has us predicting that the salmon flies will make their appearance sooner rather than later on the Big Hole.  The fish are already keying on large stone fly nymphs.  The big bugs will in all likelihood come out sometime next week.

Poindexter Slough continues to fish well, fish counts from this Spring show a near record high number of fish 18 inches or larger.  The water is clear one day, not the next.  Give us a call or stop in for current conditions.
