Guide Services

Here at Frontier Anglers, we are extremely proud of our guide service. All of our guides have intimate knowledge of our local waters and many have over 25 years of experience behind the oars. Importantly, we like to think of ourselves as more than just fishing guides. We're teachers, story tellers, listeners, legal advisors, chefs, meteorologists, alchemists, and entertainers. Our guides understand that a day on the water is supposed to be fun as well as productive. We strive to do everything in our power to make your day on the water with us as enjoyable as possible and will accomodate all
kinds of special requests. It makes no difference whether you're brand new to the sport of fly fishing or have traveled the world twice over with a fly rod in hand... everyone gets treated like an old friend in our boats. We can teach newcomers the basics or offer old timers some insight into our local waters and the specialized techniques we use to consistently put BIG trout in our nets. Whether you choose to spend a single day on one of our famous rivers or a full week exploring the world-class angling opportunites that Southwest Montana has to offer, we promise that your time with us will be something special that you and your friends or family will laugh and reminisce about for years to come. 2009 was an outstanding year! Thanks to two GREAT water years in a row, the quantity and quality of the trout that were landed in 2009 were some of the best in recent years. The Beaverhead River, Big Hole River, and Ruby River all experienced great hatches and superb water flows and the outlook for 2010 is very good. You dry fly fanatics should take note that when the flows are good in August and September, which they were in 2008 and 2009, dry fly fishing can be out of this world as big trout stuff themselves on grasshoppers, tricos, ants, spruce moths, and just about anything else that floats and is tasty. Our local spring creek gem, Poindexter Slough (5 minutes south of Dillon, 4 minutes if you drive fast due to uncontrollable excitement) fished well in 2009. It stays open all winter due to the spring-water influence, and a lot of our friends fish it all winter long to keep the shack nasties away. The PMD hatch was phenomenal and the larger fish in Poindexter have been cooperating, although they sure do make you work for it! Clark Canyon Reservoir was over 100% full for the first time in a decade this spring and the fish are really enjoying the new expansion of their happy home! Last year, a good friend
